The Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF) is the social enterprise arm of the Sampoerna Group dedicated to improving education in Indonesia for the creation of young leaders. SMA Negeri (SMAN) 1 Tarakan, merupakan salah satu Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri yang ada di Provinsi Kalimantan Timur, Indonesia. Sama dengan SMA pada umumnya di Indonesia  masa pendidikan sekolah di SMAN 1 Tarakan ditempuh dalam waktu tiga tahun pelajaran, mulai dari Kelas X sampai Kelas XII. Didirikan pada tahun 1965.

Pada tahun 2007, sekolah ini menggunakan Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan sebelumnya dengan KBK.

Stella Maris School was a simple idea from a 52 years old woman to realize her late husband's life dream. In July 16th, 1985, Dr. Strella and her husband Founded Kasih Abadi Foundation (Yayasan Kasih Abadi) which focused on humanity concerns and Padang Gembala Orphanage was one of its manifestations. Deep inside her husband, however, he wanted to open a school; Not just a common school but a school with considerable quality of education for his children in the orphanage. In May 15th, 1995 his dream came true when his wife, Dr. Strella, officially founded Stella Maris School, which by that time consisted of Playgroup, Kindergarten, & Elementary only.

Yayasan Pesantren Islam (YPI) Al-Azhar, founded on April 7, 1952, is one of the best examples of Islamic schools. As of 2004, Al-Azhar has managed as many as 78 schools from kindergarten to high school, spread over several provinces including Jakarta, Banten, West Java, and East Java.
